Expiring Domains
The expiring domain reports are the perfect place to view soon to be available .US domain names. Spending time perusing the list can be a worthwhile way to find high quality domains. When a domain is about to be re-released, or dropped, a backorder can be placed on your desired name with a domain name provider. This provides a great opportunity to get the domain name you really want for your business, idea or project.

There are a number of .US domain names that have not been made available to the public for a variety of reasons. The usTLD registry has established business procedures around these names in accordance with the U.S. Department of Commerce and industry best practices and policies.
Below are the following categories of reserved names:

All telephone numbers including toll-free numbers

Tagged domain names — all labels with hyphens in the third and fourth character positions (e.g. “bq–kn2n4h4b”)
